Berlin / Munich, October 1, 2026 – GROPYUS will supply large-format, highly prefabricated timber building elements for its inaugural collaboration with the Strenger Group: a 90-home development of townhomes and semi-detached houses in Munich-Lochhausen. The development will be delivered in several phases and will showcase the latest generation of the Strenger Group’s Baustolz homes. Initial units are scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. This is the first time GROPYUS is offering components of its building system as a stand-alone product and marks the start of a long-term innovation partnership.
The installation-ready building elements are manufactured using the same automated production process and fully digital planning approach that GROPYUS uses to deliver its own buildings as a general contractor for clients. Their high degree of prefabrication enables shorter construction times and predictable costs without compromising consistent quality, even when lead times are short. This gives developers seeking to deliver housing faster and with greater certainty a new way to work with GROPYUS. The elements are suitable for buildings of up to three stories, whether constructed entirely of timber or as hybrid structures.
The Munich project will feature the latest generation of Baustolz homes by Strenger, one of Germany’s largest residential developers. For years, the Baustolz concept has combined affordable housing with high-quality architecture and sustainable solutions. It is now being taken to the next level. The new generation will introduce a hybrid construction approach for the first time, combining a solid structural core with a timber envelope. GROPYUS is incorporating its prefabricated components into the Baustolz system and tailoring its building system to Strenger’s specific requirements. The collaboration is progressing very successfully and laying the groundwork for additional developments together.
Jan Bartels, COO of GROPYUS: “We are opening our building system. Technology that was previously used exclusively in our own buildings can now be integrated into other construction products. Our innovation partnership with the Strenger Group demonstrates both the technical capabilities and the commercial viability of our approach. By combining AI-assisted planning, data-driven processes, and one of the industry’s most advanced robotics-enabled manufacturing facilities, we are bringing cutting-edge technology to a sector that has seen few major leaps in innovation for far too long. Digital planning and industrialized prefabrication provide the foundation for future-ready construction across building types and asset classes. The Munich development is a promising first step toward additional joint ventures.”
Dr. Daniel Hannemann, CEO of the Strenger Group: “We need to make building affordable again. Expanding off-site production is an important way to achieve that, but its implementation determines whether architectural quality and sustainability are preserved. Together with GROPYUS, we are combining our experience in development and serial residential construction with highly automated manufacturing. Partnerships like this are essential if we genuinely want to move the industry forward.”
