  • The filings were triggered by the non-payment of contractually agreed investor funding.

  • This deliberate step provides a structured framework to stabilize operations and restructure GROPYUS.

  • Advanced investor discussions are expected to conclude promptly within the framework of the insolvency proceedings.

  • The priorities are to continue ongoing projects, deliver the order backlog, and safeguard the industrial technology platform.

Vienna, November 3, 2026 – GROPYUS is restructuring its group of companies. Insolvency petitions are being filed for several subsidiaries; GROPYUS AG itself is unaffected. The filings have been triggered by an acute liquidity shortfall: contractually agreed investor funding that was already due was not paid as planned, and bridge funding from existing shareholders was insufficient to cover the needs of all group companies.

The proceedings provide a structured legal framework to stabilize operations, implement financing solutions, and enable the affected companies to continue operating. They also provide time to bring ongoing discussions with existing and new funding partners to an orderly conclusion.

Over the past several years, GROPYUS has invested significantly in developing its technology platform and establishing highly automated industrial manufacturing capabilities. During this time, the company has made considerable technological and operational progress and built a substantial, contractually secured order backlog. This includes ongoing projects as well as contracted construction projects scheduled for delivery over the coming years.

At the same time, market conditions for residential construction have become significantly more challenging. High construction and financing costs are undermining the financial viability of new projects, while lengthy planning and permitting processes are delaying project starts. According to Germany’s Federal Statistical Office, the annual number of homes approved for construction in Germany fell by around 35 percent between 2020 and 2025. Political and regulatory uncertainty adds to these pressures, particularly the current debate over bringing large residential property portfolios into public ownership in Berlin, an important market for GROPYUS. Despite these challenges, GROPYUS remains convinced that industrialized construction makes housing development more efficient and affordable.

Philipp Erler, Founder and CEO of GROPYUS: “Together with our employees, we have built a strong technological and industrial foundation and secured substantial customer orders in Germany and Austria. These filings are not a retreat. They are a proactive step to safeguard what we have built and restructure GROPYUS. Our focus is on continuing ongoing projects, stabilizing operations, and securing sustainable financing that directs fresh capital into production and projects. We aim to conclude the advanced investor discussions quickly—before the insolvency proceedings are formally opened. Our goal is clear: for GROPYUS to emerge stronger from this process.”

The petitions seek standard insolvency proceedings. Further steps will be coordinated closely with the provisional insolvency administrators once they have been appointed by the court. Restructuring and financing plans are already in place. GROPYUS is counting on the support of its employees across all locations, as well as its customers, suppliers, and service providers, to keep production and construction projects running as smoothly as possible. GROPYUS will provide transparent updates on significant developments.
