Long-planned step into the next phase of growth
Former Co-CEO Philipp Erler now assumes responsibility for leading the company
Newly composed Supervisory Board: Markus Fuhrmann will continue to closely support GROPYUS as Deputy Chairperson of the Supervisory Board

Vienna and Berlin, August 19, 2026 – The long-planned transition into the company’s next phase of growth has been completed following today’s regularly scheduled Annual General Meeting: After seven successful years as founder and CEO, and later Co-CEO, Markus Fuhrmann is moving to the GROPYUS Supervisory Board as Deputy Chairperson. The transition began 15 months ago with the appointment of co-founder Philipp Erler as Co-CEO. Erler now takes over as CEO and assumes leadership of the company. GROPYUS has also reconstituted its Supervisory Board: Daniel Riedl remains Chairperson, while Markus Fuhrmann takes over the role of Deputy Chairperson from Harald Mahrer, who is leaving the Supervisory Board. Thomas Kretschmar is also leaving the Supervisory Board. Philipp Grosse (CFO Vonovia), Emmanuel Thomassin (CFO Wise), Fredrik Nordh (CEO Thisbe), Ricardo Pires (Chairman Semapa Next and CEO Semapa Group), and Claudia Ungar-Huber (Head of Subsidiaries and Transaction Management, Vienna Insurance Group) will continue to serve on the board.
Markus Fuhrmann has developed GROPYUS from his founding idea into a high-growth technology leader. Since the company’s founding, he has primarily shaped its entrepreneurial and strategic direction. His focus areas included building and financing the company, defining its long-term strategic direction, and developing key partnerships. GROPYUS builds turnkey multifamily housing in sustainable timber construction, digitally planned, industrially manufactured, and rapidly assembled. What started as a business idea has become a new industrial and digital platform for residential construction. With its first completed projects now handed over, GROPYUS has successfully demonstrated what the platform can deliver. The company currently has around 100,000 square meters of gross floor area in various stages of execution.
GROPYUS has now completed a decisive phase in its development and is entering its next stage: scaling and operational excellence. The leadership transition establishes clear responsibilities for this phase. As Deputy Chairperson of the Supervisory Board, Markus Fuhrmann will remain closely connected to the company and continue to support its strategic development going forward.
Markus Fuhrmann: “I am proud of what we have built at GROPYUS over the past seven years. An ambitious idea has grown into an industrial and digital platform for residential construction that has already proven itself through completed projects. With the appointment of Philipp Erler as Co-CEO last year, we initiated the planned transition. I am now moving to the Supervisory Board and will continue to advise GROPYUS on strategic matters and growth financing. Philipp has known the company since its founding and is the right person to lead GROPYUS into the future.”
Philipp Erler: “I sincerely thank Markus Fuhrmann for his trust and for the years we have spent building GROPYUS together, from the initial idea to the first completed buildings. Without his vision, entrepreneurial courage, and ability to rally people behind an ambitious goal, this development would not have been possible. I look forward to leading GROPYUS into its next phase together with our strong Executive Board team. It is also highly valuable for the company that Markus will continue to support us closely as Deputy Chairperson of the Supervisory Board, bringing his experience, strategic perspective, and exceptional network. Finally, I would like to thank Harald Mahrer and Thomas Kretschmar for their support and consistently constructive exchange during this important phase of the company’s development.”
Daniel Riedl: “With entrepreneurial foresight and great determination, Markus Fuhrmann has developed GROPYUS from a pioneering idea into a high-growth technology leader. For that, he deserves our sincere gratitude and deep respect. His continued commitment to the company as Deputy Chairperson of the Supervisory Board is a strong signal, and he will help shape its strategic development from a new perspective. With Philipp Erler, an experienced leader is assuming overall operational responsibility. This is an excellent setup for the next phase of growth. I would also like to thank our departing Supervisory Board colleagues Harald Mahrer and Thomas Kretschmar for the expertise and valuable perspectives they have contributed to our board. The newly composed Supervisory Board is confident that Philipp Erler and his Executive Board team will continue to advance the scaling of GROPYUS while further strengthening its innovation leadership.”
